Sussex Squad Report

On Sunday 21st January, Brighton and Hove ABC hosted the 3rd Sussex  squad of the season with 80 boxers turning up to gain valuable experience and potential selection to box versus a  Hampshire and Surrey team on the 17th February 2018.

Headed up by Sussex Coach George Brown, the boxers were placed in to weight categories with 10 Sussex coaches on hand to support.

The boxers used tech and conditioned sparring to help hone their skills under the  expert tutelage of the team coaches.

Open spars were also held to add that competitive edge.

‘It was a great turnout and shows that the squads are going from strength to  strength. We are creating regular squads now and our Sussex  boxers are benefitting as a result. It’s all about the  boxers, so it’s brilliant to see the coaches all chipping in to help them develop. I can’t wait  for the inter-county match up on 17th February 2018.’

George was extremely optimistic for the future, ‘There is some great talent  in Sussex, from the schools through to the elites, male and  female, it’s important we keep investing our time as a coaching team in days like this.’

The next squad will be announced soon. Meanwhile keep visiting www.sussexboxing.com  for all updates on squads,  shows and events in Sussex.
